Solemn Simplicity

I wrote this poem for an English paper at university. It was centred around the character of Katherine Mansfield.

A blemished pink petal; drooping with melancholy tears

swaying shyly, tucked away from prying eyes;

under the ever changing sky.

 

I planted that rose in the far corner of my garden,

yet it never really took.

It seemed pale with a longing for elsewhere;

that solemn soul of a rose.
