Silenced PleasA Poem by Hanna McGivernSilenced Pleas I’m feeling sick with
disgust that should be yours. Crawl under your bed
and sob. Scream, insides bleed
for freedom from the torture you
forced into me. Kneel down and gasp for
air as you pull your hair in vain
attempts to cling to reality. Listen to that one song
that paralyzes you with fear
and forget where you
are. Awake from your
peaceful sleep and cling to the harsh
unforgiving walls that reject you. Stand in a scorching
shower and feel your skin turn red
as the scars on my arms. Let the heat strip away
the dirty label that sticks to you like the day old
smell of sweat and tequila. Keep your eyes open in
fear your surroundings will be replaced with
images of trauma you wish you could
un-see. Pull the bandaid off
the ugly. Another day, another
tear you will never understand because you can’t hear
the word I am too afraid to cry. © 2013 Hanna McGivernReviews
