Downfall

Downfall

A Poem by hmarieee

I've lost a lot of friends to gangs.

Downfall

You walk around the city

Like you own it

Not afraid of any downfall

The air is bad

Graffiti on every wall

Beggars everywhere

Around every corner

That sad call your mother just got

Your brother was shot

Your stupidity caused it all

How can you not care

Acting tough to defend your family

Slowly, one by one, they’re gone

Do you remember where you came from

What about your little sister

Don’t you care

She’s next

What if they hurt her

Your stupidity has a cure

You need to run

Run from all you know

End this horror show

You think it’s okay to be in a gang

What was your initiation

Do you really think you’re getting any appreciation

It was your fault

You caused the downfall

The sad part

You don’t have any regret at all

Blinded by society

Trying to fit in with the crowd

The downfall

Sad to say

It’s all your fault
