Passenger Seat

Passenger Seat

A Poem by Parachutes and Sunshine
"

I felt inspired to write this when i was listening to the song Car Radio by Twenty One Pilots one time

"
bumps and jolts eat away at my mind
each disturbance sticks the knife farther into my brain
quiet makes everything usually unheard scream
there's no running away from it
i'm driving but getting nowhere
gripping the wheel tighter
no hiding behind the melodic mask this time
and in its place, the one thing i can't handle
sits in my passenger seat
i scream to cripple the muteness that consumes me
but it grows like a parasite
slowly stealing more and more of my mind away from me
until all that's left is an empty driver's seat
a crash
the silence is gone now

Intense and haunting! I don't know the song you were listening to, but not sure I would want to hear it now! The imagery is powerful in this poem. Very well written.
