Ne’er a Pattern Be

Ne’er a Pattern Be

A Poem by Hannah Estar
"

Trying a different style :)

"

I never saw a handsome bloke
more handsomer than thee,
but you’re a wretched coward.
‘Tis plain for all to see.

You string tales all so mighty
as mighty as they come
but threads of truth be lackin’
amid them ahs and ums.

Til swine like little doves grow wings
Coward th’art and remain
Forever and e’er til the de’il see
Winter in Hades again.

I’ve still no clue what could ha’ brought
the thought o’ marryin thee.
Bah - a fool I’ve alway’ been
and fool I’ll always be.

But honestly, what makes ye think
I’d fetch what ya’d fergotten
Just cause the hall is dark
and the cellar a bit rotten.

Oh damn the day I took that vow,
Hand o’er the wretched lantern.
But ‘spite this be the umpteenth time,
it will ne’er be a pattern.
