The Weeping Willow cannot speak
The Weeping Willow cannot see
But she can listen to the words
Of earth and man eternally
She cannot move lest wind be near
She cannot flee the lives of others
She breathes and listens speaking not
To feuds between earth’s brothers
Throughout her years she knows
She hears them all to well
The deaths of lovers, the cruel fate
Of the everlasting farewell
And mankind will never know
When the Weeping Willow cries
For she sheds no tears known to man
And weeps silently with hidden eyes
She cries for war and death and pain
Broken hearts and the folly of man
Men who have made the same mistakes
Since this strange world began
