One Day

For so long now I’ve been trying

But not finding what I’m looking for

Patiently awaiting, but nothings knocking on my door

Since last year my heart has been closed off

And I don’t even recognize myself anymore

 

One day I’ll be able to let love in

One day I won’t push away the people I love

One day will surely come and find me

But till then I’ll just be waiting for that one day

 

I know that there’s got to be more out there

Than what I’m seeing in this small town now

I don’t seem to be getting anywhere

But no one besides me is holding on

Deep breath and just let go

 

One day I’ll be able to let love in

One day I won’t push away the people I love

One day will surely come and find me

But till then I’ll just be waiting for that one day

 

Time still lingers on, hope still remains

Don’t worry I still haven’t lost my faith

If you need me you can find me at the water’s edge

With my eyes locked on the horizon

And my feet buried in the sand

 

One day I’ll be able to let love in

I really love this. It's pretty simple, yet it clearly portrays the feeling of wanting to open your heart, but being unable to. The flow throughout the whole poem was steady, and it held my interest until the very end. Good job!
