Pearl of Darkness

'I love you my darling,

Please say you do.

I see it in your eyes,

I sighed in despair,

How to say?

I don't love you,

Not to this day.

 

'Please my love,

Just look deep inside.

You know that you care,

You are one of mine.'

 

I narrowed my eyes,

I am not part of you,

You don't know me at all,

How can I love you too?

 

'Just give me a chance,

I can make it right.

Give me your hand,

We'll dance through the night'

 

Stop with this now,

I go my own way,

I care for you not,

Hear what I have to say.

 

I belong to myself,

I hold my own heart,

The key does not fit,

Into it's counterpart.

 

Because I am the darkness,

Who opposes the light,

And I am the evil,

Who duels with the knight.

 

So don't say you love me,

You have the wrong girl.

I am the colour of darkness,

Not the light of a pearl.

Hard to know what to say...this was lovely and carefully composed. So simple but had much to say if one looks deep within every thought you penned. I loved the last two stanzas the best. I truely did. Something about the "Not the light of a pearl" that just moved me there on that one. :)
