LifeA Story by earthtohannahBased on my family and my cousin Laura, who had such a short life, yet is greatly missed, even after these years we've had without you. We have never forgotten those months, and never will.I saw you live. You breathed the air, letting it rush into your lungs. You were a flicker of life, a tranquil look on your face. Your eyes were closed, breathing deeply. I watched you, seeing the life inside of your tiny being. Slowly, you opened your eyes. You seemed bewildered to be in this world, yet at the same time, I could see nothing but wisdom in your tiny blue eyes. It was as if you had seen everything in life, but you had seen nothing. I watched you for days, like your guardian angel. Who knew that life could be so small and calm, even though I could see it bubbling under the surface? I thought that this new life would see this world for years to come. I was wrong. The angiush in my heart, tearing in apart into thousands of tiny peices, so violently, I could literally feel it breaking. To see those eyes, now shut, yet not peaceful, not sleeping, that were once so full of joyous life. I cried, even though I knew these tears of sorrow would not replace the life that had once been. This cursed world, all this death surrounding me; I could not go on in this life. How could I, now that you were no longer supporting me, giving me a reason to live? I knew that those four short months would haunt me forever. I saw you die. © 2012 earthtohannah |
