Ever Grateful

Ever Grateful

A Poem by earthtohannah

I saw you lying there,

So emancipated,

So tired,

And I felt the tears,

Welling up in my eyes.

I saw you in such pain,

It hurt me to watch.

I knew I could do nothing,

But I wanted so bad to help.

I could feel the lump in my throat,

Growing with the pain,

Of watching you suffer.

I could feel the water in my eyes,

Swelling with the sorrow,

Of watching you so bewildered.

I knew it would happen,

Yet I was so unprepared.

I cried and cried,

The pain hurting too much.

I just want to tell you,

I love you.

I miss you everyday.

One day, I will see you again.

I know that you're no longer in pain,

And for that I am grateful.
