The Waves.

The Waves.

A Poem by Hannah
"

An ode to someone who caused this feeling...

"
The current has subdued from its tireless reign;

The foam settled and the roar silenced.

I am no longer caught in the endless white squall-

Heaving, begging, enduring.

I stand on the shore, my feet planted in sand;

I am steady, balanced.

The water still tries to pull me in and carry me back,

To the blue and the white and the black-

The infinite black.

But I am safe here, I am untouchable.

In the distance I still see the uneven horizon,

As the tyrant lurks beneath the surface,

Breaking the sheer veil of serene beauty,

With its demand for domination, for destruction.

I know the waters will rise again;

The sand will wash away,

And I will have to stand on my own,

But this time I can see them,

I know how they form and crash and build;

I know how to break free from the grip,

How to swim away and keep breathing.

This time I will not be drowned by them-

The waves.

Lovely title.The ocean "world" will never be a safe place.Every wave that rises tries to out do the other.Some end calmly on the sea shores but others end with a huge destruction. It needs wisdom to understand how they form and build and how to break free from them.

I really love this poem, how you describe overcoming something that has once held you down. Keep up the good work, and very nice descriptive words.
