A LONER CAN LIVE TOO

A LONER CAN LIVE TOO

A Poem by hanir

A LONER CAN LIVE TOO
I'm a loner.
Sometimes, it's a choice.
Sometimes, it's not.
Possibly its not solitude that makes a loner miserable.
It could be due to the conventional belief that every human SHOULD bond with another in order to live..
In order to survive.
But you see, the more we allow ourselves to be chained to this atrocious belief,
The more we deprive ourselves to live such a marvelous life.
Being alone doesn't mean death.
I choose to live!
And I don't have to be extremely happy.
And it doesnt have to be til 70.
 :-)

I agree. I liked the lonely road and deciding my own destination. Sometime company make your plans go AWOL.

I have met people like I was. Liked to travel, free-climb and suicide board the sea. Rare people and common goals can create a friendship. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry. I like the poetry that open up the mind and thoughts. Your words did.

This rings so true to me. Good little read.

You've written my life story here. I get so sick of the constant societal pressure to mate & surround ourselves with people. I've had someone get to know me here on this website & learning of my life of solitude, then writing & posting a poem about how sad my life is. Imagine the presumptuousness!

I love straightforward writing most of all. I like the way you state your views without sounding defensive, even tho you are defending this lifestyle choice. I just turned 60 & I still live alone in the boondocks with my furry friends, as I've done all my life, in different natural settings. The constant noise that people make is the reason I can't think or follow my instincts when people are around too much. I love this.

The fact that we have to rely on certain people to reach a level of contentment has been imprinted on us since the beginning. But in fact, if we chain ourselves to a person, a toxic one even, we're deprived of freedom, of living. I would rather be satisfied and free than "happy" and trapped. Great job.

I can relate as I prefer solitude to most people, excellent

alone doesn't mean lonely and you are spot on, Hanir, some of us choose to live alone for various reasons... life is not meant to be lived in a box by a specific set of guidelines...the freedom to choose the kind of life we want trumps the one people think we should be living... great write!

There is nothing wrong with enjoying your own company. I am an only child and I don't mind being alone at all. Still, I would not want to be alone 24/7....and fortunately I am not. No one has the right to tell you you HAVE to be with someone though. Empowering words. Lydi**

Thanks for the review. 😊
I picked this at random to read and I am so glad I did. Do we need human connections? I think this site answers that question. The writing, reading, and commenting on feelings as expressed through the different genera's (and writers)link us together. I say this as someone who loves solitude.

What a great write!
