BrothersA Poem by Hanna LilyA story/poem about two orphan boys. When one of them dies, the other goes to the beach where they used to play and remembers him.Never again shall I see your face, Smiling like the sunshine over the land, Never again shall I hold your hand, While we race down the beach of golden sand. It pains me to know that you are not here, No longer can we watch the sun slipping beneath the sea, I hope the people in heaven will hold you dear, As dearly as you held me. We were orphans, you and I, We only had each other in this torn-apart world, Brothers, you and I, Bound not by blood but by love. I remember that sandcastle that we built, Covered it in the shells from our beach, Said that one day, We would live in a castle like that. As I sit on our gnarled old rock, I feel the loss of what used to be, As I gaze at the sunset, I realise what a blessing you have been to me. But even in this sadness, I can smile at the memories. Because I know, That when we meet again, We will be real brothers, We shall have a Father Who will love us for all eternity, And we shall live In the most beautiful castle there is.
