When you think of acting in general, and where it comes from, many places will come to mind. Hollywood with its bright lights and big dreams, many a person has went there to try and ‘make it’. On the other side of the country, you have the dim lights of Broadway producing the great works of our time.

However, one place where you truly learn the art of acting is non-other than London. It is the home of all British acting, be it theatre film or television. What other place to learn your trade, than one of the biggest and best the world has to offer.



Speaking to the majority of many great actors that the United Kingdom has produced, you would find one common denominator - London. Be it moving as a youngster to chase the fame, or going to hone their skills, or maybe even to learn from other greats, the one place they all came to do it was the nation’s capital. So, what makes going to an acting school in London so attractive?


Plenty of Choice


The first thing you have in abundance by choosing London is choice. The choice to find the correct school for you, and there are plenty to choose from. Of course that depends on what type performer you wish to be, it could be musical theatre it could be just simply acting, whatever it may be you know that you have numerous choices at your feet should you choose London.


The Highest Level of Acting Qualifications


Acting full time is by no means an easy goal to achieve. Many have tried and failed, yet if you choose to learn to act in London you are increasing the likelihood of actually making a successful career for yourself.

Gaining entry to any of the numerous colleges or drama schools in London, you can gain a valuable qualification that would greatly improve your chances of becoming a professional full time actor. With so much competition in the industry, having a well-regarded qualification could only help you.


A Steep Learning Curve


Of course, getting a qualification is not so simple. It would be hard earned, and should you gain successful entry, the amount of skills you would learn would be immeasurable for your future career.

The UK is home to some of the most prestigious learning institutes in the world, outside of the performing arts, so when you consider some of the available courses in relation to acting, the standard of learning you could have access to would be of the highest standard possible, another great aspect that the capital city offers. The difficulty of learning at a London acting school means that you will get invaluable experience in dealing with the long-term goals you set. Not every day is going to be a walk in the park, which is important for understanding the reality of being an actor or actress.


Build a Career Pathway


Gaining your qualifications is of course only a short time period in your acting career, so once you have gained your qualifications what would be next?


Well where better in the world to pursue your career to the next level than one of the most prominent stages for the arts? Having qualifications in London will give you a better chance of finding work here.

Having learned the craft and the workings of the industry in London, you won’t have to move up to try and find work.  You’ll immediately have a better chance of gaining employment if you have been taught in London, as you’ll know what to expect in the future.


You won’t feel like a fish out of water and have to try and adapt if you were to relocate. You can build the foundations of your dreams by learning in London, and you could pursue them further by remaining there afterwards.
