StrengthA Poem by SpurI wrote this for my grandmother who had been battling various health issues. She is a very religious woman thus the references to God, the Devil, and angels.Dark, stormy skies Radars red and yellow closing in Still you stand strong, Rooted deep in the ground. You bend with the pre-storm breeze, Closer to the Devil's clutches But with God's help you slip away Like the moon against the night sky You are a light amongst the storm.
The lengthy battle is over As the clouds part, rays of sun shine Sweet salvation to you. Darkness cowers in the distance, Sunlight glistens off your blooms A sign that you weathered the storm. Though here and there lie petals Still you stand strong, Beaming by the angels' grace What strength you show to outlast the storm! © 2011 Spur |
