But it was

But it was

A Poem by The Lady Anasteja
"

Oh, but it was

"
remorse rides shotgun on this journey

it wasn't supposed to be

responsible was not her name

an expanded needle to drain

all the life from his veins

responsible was not her name

she broke his back

he stood straight up

responsible was not her name

his being; her life

her flaw; his burden

responsible was not her name

This was an amazing piece.
My favorite line would have to be:
"remorse rides shotgun on this journey"
That was a brilliant way to start the poem.
I look forward to reading more of your work.

Some might consider it co-dependency. A very well written poem. How to carry someone else's weight is something that is hard to contemplate until you have done it. I like this. Good work.

I love the repetition in this one. And the opening line is a real grabber.
