Janice's 40th PoemA Poem by James HallJust a poem I wrote for my partner on her 40th Birthday. It was 1969, you were born in old Hartlepool
You were brought home in a leg brace, unable to walk
Your days as a child, then you became a big sis
Your Dad then left, and along came Ed Marsh
You got a few cuts, bruises and scrapes
Your years spent learning in Brierton School
You finished your schooling, not wanting any more
From your days spent rocking in the Newcastle Mayfair
You started at Uni, enjoying life to the full
You graduated from Northumbria, your family was proud
You started at fairs, what a tyrant Czes was
I met you at fairs, we hit it off straight away
Through the ups and the downs, we would never complain
Now you are 40, life is still very good
It is just a number, a measure that’s all
It is not the end, or the middle, its the start of something new
The love I feel for you still seems new
