Letting You Go

Letting You Go

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I know I’ve got to let go

But I don't know how

Even though it doesn't feel like your leaving

It feels like you're already gone

It's like you passed away

But there was never a funeral

I won't find your name in the obituary

I won't find your headstone in the graveyard

It doesn't seem like goodbye

It doesn't seem real at all

Some of us are happier pretending

By we can only lie to ourselves for so long

You know this isn't what I had in mind

It's no the way I envisioned it

It's more difficult than I imagined

I'm having trouble letting go
