The Way You Make Me Feel

The Way You Make Me Feel

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

What's the point of pretending

That it will all be okay?
What's the point of acting

Like you're not dying on the inside?

I'm not a fool

I'm no longer a child

I've lost that innocence

I can't go back

There's no easy fix

No quick solution

No matter how it ends

Someone will get hurt

When you're gone from here

Memories of better times will linger

I wrap my arms around myself

To keep from falling apart

I'd love to pretend

That tomorrow will be better

I'd love to act

Like nothing's wrong at all

I can't live in denial

The place you now reside

I live in the real world

Where there's nowhere to hide

I can't fix you

I can't fix me

What's the point of trying?

When you've already given up

When you're gone from here

I'll still feel like I”m dying

I wish I was still a child

I miss that innocence
