Brave

Brave

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

Don't fall victim to the bystander effect

"

It's so hard to be brave

When everyone else is afraid

It's so easy to walk away

And pretend that you don't see

If it was you in her place

Who would come to your aid?

When the tables are turned

She won't be there to rescue you

It's so easy to walk away

Tell yourself someone else will help

But by then it might be too late

It's up to you to act today

It's not about the glory

Or the recognition you'll receive

It's about reaching out to those in need

And being a voice for those you can't speak

It's so hard to stand up

When inside you're terrified

But when the tables are turned

She'll be there to rescue you
