Winter of Fifteen

Winter of Fifteen

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

We let go, then go too far...

"

These things I'll always know

Your lips are shaped perfectly to meld with mine

My hands mold perfectly to fit yours

When I look at you, that's all I see

Your stride speeds to match mine

So that we're always in time

Everything about us wonderfully aligned

This love is truly one of a kind

Neither one of us is an old soul

We're both younger than our years

Impulsive and filled with doubt and regret

Over things both said and kept

We play games like the children we are

We let go, then go too far

We become one, then two again

We feel warm, then lonelier than before

I've memorized your every expression

From glee to guilt to surrender

It's how I recognized the end of our days

When I look at you, that's all I see

These things I'll always know

I'll always have my memories

And even if you never come back to me

We'll always have the winter of fifteen
