Ten Months

Ten Months

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I met you in January

Fell in love in February

By March we were through

I thought I was done with you

Summer saw us back together

But even the sunny weather

Couldn't keep us that way

Not with the things you say

The leaves fell and so did we

For a moment perfectly

But then reality came along

Accompanied by vicious memories

Ten months out of the year

I expected you to be there

I guess this is what it's like

This is what it means to be free

I met you in January

I left you in October

It's sad but true

I can't start over with you
