Enough to Let Me Go

Enough to Let Me Go

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

You say the pain I'll never know

Is loving someone enough to let them go

But what do you want me to do

And what do you expect me to say

Almost every part of me wants to be over you

But no part of me wants you to be over me

It could be argued what you said is true

That I'm playing some kind of game with you

But I'm not the only one whose got the moves

You're a player in this game too

And neither of us will emerge victorious

In this game of love both of us will lose

You say the pain I'll never know

Is loving someone enough to let them go

You say it's because I never loved you at all

And when I asked you why you never came

You said the pain you'll always know

Is loving yourself enough to let me go
