If You Could See Me Now

If You Could See Me Now

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

What if you could see us now

I wonder what would you think?

Would you still feel the same way about her?

And would you still overlook me?

What if you could see us now

See who we grew up to be

Would you finally appreciate me?

If you could see how she turned out

I'm no longer the girl you knew

Though parts of her still linger

She's far from the one you loved

I can't even see traces of who she was

If this was still a competition for you love

Which one of us would triumph?

Maybe you wouldn't have either one of us

But maybe you'd realize you made a mistake

Maybe you'd finally appreciate me

Maybe you'd finally stop overlooking me

Maybe if you could only see me now

See the girl who knows now she was always too good

....too good for you

Painful that he leave before you grow.

I can see in your piece that there's a little hope and regret.
