Sanctuary

This is a poem about writing and how it feels for me but more specifically my poetry.

You're my sanctuary

The place that I run to

When I'm hurt, scared, or alone

You're the one who's there for me

 

You're my peace of mind

The one who keeps me sane

Who helps me make sense of things

In this twisted, upside down world

 

You're the place I'm brave

You're the place I'm free

The one place I can speak my mind

And not fear retribution

 

You're where I can express

All my sorrow and happiness

You're the one who understands

Everything that I feel

 

You're my sanctuary

You're my everything

You're the one who I can tell

All of my secrets to

 

Because you're the one who doesn't judge

You're the one who truly loves

I don't know who I am without you

And I hope I never have to

Those were my favorite lines too :). Believe me I understand how fortunate I am to have something I am so passionate about. I feel for anyone who doesn't, and it certainly doesn't have to be writing; for my sister it's teaching and for my uncle it's model trains!
