Overrated Reality

Overrated Reality

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

It's depressing to think there are those
Who reside in this world alone
Trapped in this mundane reality
Never aware of what they're missing

Well I live in dozens of realms
When I wish to escape my own
I get lost in tales of epic love and dwell
Among such oddities as vampire bunnies

There's magic in words on a page
The best kind of movie that exists is in your head
The books you can't put down
That take you places you never expected

There's power in imagination
In having your own creation
To design you own land
And dictate your own rules

Because anything can happen
When you bend the laws of normalcy
When for just a few hours a day
You forget about an overrated reality

It's tragic to think there are those
Who reside in this world alone
Those who will never know
Such curiosities as vampire bunnies

I like this! Lighthearted and fun but very deep and meaningful. It's true, those of us with imagination and freedom and the ability to read are much better connected to the wonders that this world has to offer. Because all of these other realms and fantasies all stem from the same place... our reality. And who's to say that these places aren't real? We all live in them together, even if we travel there alone.

Vampire bunnies. Amazing.
