Hypocrite

Hypocrite

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

a very therapeutic poem to write.

"

I think it’s about time you start

Practicing what you preach

Don’t talk to me about forgiveness

You’re nothing but a fraud

Do you even hear yourself?

Maybe you should take notes

Listen to your own lectures

I’m not the one who needs improving

I’m sick and tired of this

You don’t deserve that halo

Don’t go acting all high and mighty

You’ve sunk lower than me

You’re such a hypocrite

Your words don’t match your actions

You say you love everyone

With an unspoken but you

I’m the exception to your rule

I guess I don’t qualify

So go yammering on about good deeds

All the while hating me

You can’t practice what you preach

The truth is you’re too weak

Maybe I messed up in the past

But at least I’m not a hypocrite

You've eloquently and pointedly penned the contradiction and poison of hypocrisy.
