Broken Faith

Broken Faith

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

How can I trust you

When all the secrets you keep

Prevent me from falling asleep?

What should I believe you

When you’ve lied to me so many times?

What makes it so different this time?

It wasn’t yours to take

It never belonged to you

It was mine and I want it back

You’ve really let me down

I’m more disappointed than I’ve ever been

You’re the reason I don’t have any faith

I’m a person, not a statistic

I have a name; I’m more than a number

Write that down in your stupid book

I won’t ever trust you again

This is my life not a game of chance

I’m tired of you keeping me in the dark

I don’t believe in you anymore

I should have known I was making a mistake

I put my heart in the wrong hands
