Mom's Poem

Mom's Poem

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I know it hurts right now

And you’re wondering how

You’ll make it through the day

And I’d give anything to take it all away

Baby, if I could

Then believe me I would

Suffer a thousand times

And write you a hundred rhymes

If only it would take away your pain

I know you don’t believe me

But it gets easier, you see

It won’t always feel like this

Soon you won’t even remember his kiss

Sweetie I’d give anything

Just to hear you sing

I’d give my life to see you smile

I’d swim across the Nile

If only it would take away your pain

Nothing hurts me more

Than seeing you curled up on the floor

With tears in your eyes

How I wish I could make you realize

Honey, it gets better

Someday you’ll tear up his letter

Baby, this is not the end

Just read this poem I penned

It will take away your pain

Because I love you

You’ll always be my Boo

And I’ll be all you need

I'll make you forget him and his greed

I know it hurts right now

But you don’t have to wonder how

Because I’ll always be right here

I’ll never leave you, my Dear

Because I will be the one to take away your pain

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
This is a REALLY old poem that I wrote about a night when I was very upset and my mom comforted me. This is me writing from a mother's perspective. It's my dream to one day adopt a daughter so many someday I can show this to her.
