Trust

Trust

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

Now I don't mean to sound insecure

Please, don't take this the wrong way

It's not that I don't trust you

Because I really do

I just can't help it

Because I've been lied to before

He wasn't where he said he was

I can't go though that again

I resist the urge to call you

And barrage you with text messages

Demanding to know where you are

And just who you're with

But then you're always there to soothe my fears

Saying “Don't you dare feel insecure

“Not someone as beautiful as you

Because I'd never lie to you”

I can't help but feel reassured

I know you'll never be like he was

I won't ever go through that again

Because I've found someone whom I can trust
