History LessonA Chapter by Haley A. N.My parents and I had just moved into a new house. My family had a history of causing problems where ever we went. The last place we had lived at had three floods over the year that we lived there. We probably have moved over a hundred times. You see when my parents were to be wed, my grandmother did not like my mother,so she put a curse on my family to live forever. Cliche right? This happened over two-hundred years ago. Along with being immortal your looks never change, so my parents look like they did back when they got married.Being the kid of an immortal you stop aging when you are twenty-one years of age. I have probably been twenty-one for a hundred and fifty years now. I lost count along time ago. It gets boring after a while, and you end up getting bored after you have done a lot of stuff. You think it would love to live forever, but its a pain after a while. You have to distance yourself from other people, but if you don't you watch your friends grow old while you stay young. My parents and I prefer to use the term immortal. I'm modern day terms you would say we are ‘vampires’. Yes, we drink blood, have super speed, and inhuman strength. We don’t turn into bats or any of that cliche movie crap. Just some of the myths and legends are true, I even love garlic. So no we can’t be killed by a wooden stake, or holy water, or garlic, we can only be killed by beheading. So movie crap DOES NOT WORK! Don’t listen to that pile of crap. I still live with my parents because they think traveling together is ‘safer’. Personally I think living alone would be safer. I’m just waiting for that perfect moment to escape. I could survive on my own. I mean I have a PhD in physics, biology, chemistry, engineering, psychology, and literature. I have had a lot of time on my hands so i get bored...A LOT! I am just figuring out a plan of escape . I have saved over two million dollars over the years. I could easily on that for a while, I just have to figure out where I would go to live. I was thinking about a small town, so I wouldn't be noticeable to a lot of people. I just have to figure out this small stuff. Then I can be free, and live my own life. My mother came up to me and tapped me on my shoulder. I turned around and stared into her eyes as she said, “Go unpack and i will call you down for dinner when it’s done.” The movers had already put everything into assigned rooms. We would just have to unpack them. The house was two stories high. It has a porch that goes all the way to the back. On the back of the house on the second story was a balcony that connected to my room. On the left side there was a bay window. There was inside the house a spiral stairway that led up to my room at the end of the hallway leading from the kitchen. I walked up the spiral staircase and up to my room. My room was basically the attic, and took up the entire second story. The floor was hard wood, blood red walls, and white dressers. The door to the outside porch was at the very back of the room right in the center. The bed spread matched my walls in color with black stripes, and my pillows were black with blood red dots and circles. I went over to my bookcase and filled it with at least five boxes of books maybe more. After i went to get my closet set up ,and I noticed a small figure in the corner on the top shelf. I took down the object ,and noticed that it was a book. It was a diary. The front was leather ,and the spine was a very flexible metal. There were two clasps to keep it shut with key holes near the opening of the book. All i needed was the key that went with. I dropped the box i was holding and started to search for the key. © 2014 Haley A. N.Author's Note
