Marionette

Marionette

A Poem by Shadenfrauder
"

She can only dance enough.

"

He pulls her
taut strings
again -
she dances

of moonshine in his hair
starlight in his eyes
sun in his fingertips.

And he pulls once more
watching
her gyrations
holding everyone
spell-bound.

She dances only
for him.

Sways only
for him.

Moves
speaks
exists
only
for him.

Soon she
shatters
in splinters
of hopes
dreams
wishes

strings of
subtile threads

and broken
old
wood.
