She Asked...

She Asked...

A Poem by Dennis White
"

Shakespearean Sonnet

"
She asked how much my heart did beat for her,
Without a pause I answered her this way,
'My heart doth echo boldly when thou art near,
A feeling that I long for night and day'.

I asked her if her love for me could grow,
She looked at me as if I'd asked too much,
And then she said that only time will show,
I knew it would, I felt it in her touch.

Our banter back and forth intensified
We sparred with words but flirted with our eyes,
But would these anxious moments ere subside,
And bring us to a place of happy sighs ?

Relationships can be a stressful thing
But worth the pain and pleasure that it brings.
