Mother's DayA Poem by Frances SmartMusings on surrendered custody
Mother's Day
They ripped you from my arms In much the same way that They ripped you from my womb... Violently, quickly, passionately They who lacked compassion Pointed a gun at me With you in my arms And told me to surrender you But how could I give you up My daughter, my joy, my heart Your brother was so young Too young to understand How the earth was opening up And swallowing my soul Your father just stood there Smirking And I found my peace in knowing That the earth, The forgiving, forgetting earth Will swallow him as well © 2008 Frances SmartFeatured Review
