Shy Away

 

I'm falling down into my own fears
That's the feeling that I get
Whenever someone looks my way
'Just get over it'
No one cares to understand
That it's a fear I can't just put away
As if it was never a part of me
It'd be better if everything was a dream
Because then I'd forget
And reality would kindly end
Yet somewhere inside that feeling would lurk
Refusing to let me take a real breath
Would I have really escaped to anywhere?
Someone please tell me that it's okay
If I don't change so much
Surely some people dream of that
Even if others only turn away
I'll stay with me

I hadn't thought of wanting everything to be a dream. Perhaps that's because I have so many bad dreams that I'm glad that's just what they are.
I'm not a brave person and it's hard to be someone different, even if the difference isn't a lot. It's okay to take on the changing of life with one step, even one breath at a time, because it's yourself.
