Lullaby #10

Lullaby #10

A Poem by I Cast a Shadow

Ago on a bank grew a Gardenia ‘n a Rose

They knew each other’s roots better than the trees knew the vines

Then had come the Winter with its cold icy snows

The flower stems brittle and the petals no signs

Though they look dead and cold within the bank

There still was a clasp in roots not above

With strength and their hope they had much to thank

Petals full; scents trancing; the Spring shown their love
