Beyond the SurfaceA Poem by Hailey ShayUpon the surface the flowers bloom in indescribable beauty, Taking root they spread with vibrant colors Producing a plentiful crop within the valley Perfection lies within shades of blue and gold upon the sun kissed surface.
Below the surface lies entangled roots of entrapment, Webbed together they are tangled in a knotted mess of deceit Growing deeper and deeper refusing to wither with the wind Deception lies beneath the surface of perfection.
Upon the surface life looks as if a perfectly painted picture Where all the pieces of the puzzle fit together precisely Depicting a false projection of reality Displaying what society asks for rather than the truth.
Below the surface lies a bruised and battered heart Shattered into a million pieces by brokenness Groaning in agony for a path out of entanglement But the truth would taint the facade of perfection.
Seasons come and go with time Flowers bloom and wither with each passing day The flowers that bloom upon the surface are lies of happiness that depict false joy But the roots that lie underneath devastate the perfect pictures of life.
Weeds grow deep within the soul once they are nurtured, They produce bright colors and speak of joy in a promising manner Trapped within a web of lies; lives become hopeless prey to the facade of beauty Picture perfect on the surface Broken beyond belief beneath below © 2013 Hailey ShayReviews
