Of Course

Of Course

A Poem by H.
"

So typical.

"
There I'd go running whenever the rain would fall.
"Follow me, darling!" thrown over my shoulder, and
She wouldn't answer. I'd turn on my heels to her

"Honey, what for? Don't you
see that it's pouring?"

Of course, and I'd feel it too kissing my neck the way
She never would. Truth be told, there I was soaking
Wet with a smile seeing she was so worried the
Rain might attack and her makeup would follow me.

How carefree you seem, dashing into the rain, inviting her along as if it's some unknown adventure. How telling is her distrust, scared of the wild, that the rain might wash away the facade. In that water-kissed moment you see through it all the same.

That's my interpretation at least. :) I like the way you shaped this. Short, shifting quickly but coherently, just like an epiphany.

Ha! I see it now. I was thinking... it's beautiful the way people interpret poems whether they picked up on your meaning or not. The interpretation they give is still correct because a poem is not to tell someone exactly how you feel. A poem is to let loose your emotions and thoughts, then to let everyone else feel their own emotions in response to it.

I'd follow you into the rain. Hell, I have many other times. Although... I don't wear makeup, so not much to worry about for me.
