At Your Stoop

At Your Stoop

A Poem by H.
"

Pull me from the dark and save me.

"

It's too late now.  I fell again.
My skinned knees at your stoop again.
Oh, need I knock?  Just let me in.

You'll pick me from my evil ways
And cradle me as if to say,
"It's only skin. You'll be okay."

Short and sweet, brief but strong. I like this very much. Everyone will be able to bring their own life experience into this and the meaning will ever mold and grow with each reader. No matter how many times we fall, those we trust will always pick us up, dust us off and get us back on our way. Thank you for sharing this!

This poem made me chuckle - if only because of the directness of 'skin' (weird I know). There's not much to like about the writing, I agree with Jush Manoosh it's cute, but with undertones of a struggle of parentalism in a relationship like a child falling over and needing to be comforted

Thanks for sharing

This poem really hits home. I guess Emily knew that when she sent it my way. I like the short lines that are filled with the visual punches.

Good Write Short and to the point. It's only skin the only time u must worry- is when you scar your soul- heart B.P.

I love the directness of this write it seems to say "forget fancy words, I just want to be with you".

A very cute piece (can poems be cute?), well written.

This reminds me very much of when your child falls and hurts themself.. when they are young you have to convince them a tiny graze wont kill them, but in fixing it up they begin to discover that its not so much a wound on their body that is being fixed. Funny how all the physical nurturing indeed nurtures much deeper than skin. Nice write.

We all need saving from time to time...and perhaps can help save others. Simple but tender piece.
