Fire and Fog

Fire and Fog

A Poem by Shalini R

I was making a fire in my hands
Or at least trying to.
Attempting to fight off the gray of December
But the only light was the light in her eyes
And her face bright with rouge.
My breath was before me, then gone
Cold, and weighing down.
She glanced to the newly painted trees
And the dog that barked at me.
The fog hung like old coats between the trees
And the only light came from her.

This is very evocative and it paints a word picture. It can be savoured and interpreted at will by the imagination at will.

very beautiful poem. could be lovers or a mother and child..
the fire could be passion or a child holding hands out to be warmed.
Anyway, it is very good. Original imagery.

Now that I read it again it does seem that way. Just pretend that the other girl in the poem is Anjelina Jolie. Sorry I don't know how to spell her name. That's gotta be sacriligeous or something. : )

There seems to be an underlying message here. I will have to put some thought to this one. I like your usage of your words in this piece.

Great job!!!

Is this open to interpretation or does it have a specific meaning?
