What I've Learned

What I've Learned

A Poem by Shalini R

I’ve learned the pattern of stars and the steep of stairs

And crystal freezes to make perfection.

I’ve learned that imperfections make you flawless

And to chase after one will not lead to either.

I’ve learned cause and effect

Consequences from the act of being: inescapable.

I’ve learned to escape is to encounter and breathe it in

            Freedom skin-deep if not enveloped.

I’ve learned to be protected is to be vulnerable

An exposed and naked self is all you can give.

I’ve learned that the currency of happiness is always truth

            Shallow smiles mask deception.

I’ve learned what I’ve learned and tried to leave it at that

One thing I’ll never learn is how to be released from your

cicatrix.

This poem was a nice peice, if only it makes you realize what has been learned and what more need to be learned. the last line made me think :) and i thought try plastic surgery (kidding). What made me like it more was that it is a Litany :).

Well Written.

I enjoyed this poem because of the points that you make about life. All so very true and obvious, like a thread laid bare.

I still have some learning to do in life, and some of my lessons are in your poem.

Thank you for sharing this.

I wish I was learned enough to say exactly what about the form I do and don't like. All I know I can say is that the content - the ideas expressed, makes me feel good on a base level. Litanous!

This was a great read. I've learned there are many things in life that I've yet learned. The differences that we have is what makes us beautiful. Great job!!!
