CHAPTER EIGHT

Abby led the two girls down the stairs and through the hallway.

“ABBY!” Kayla screamed, trying to get her attention.

But Abby wouldn’t listen. Her eyes were blank and boring, and her senses were all focused on the picture frame. She was possessed.

Kayla nervously followed Abby into a bedroom-the same one they had left immediately before. She tried wrenching it out of the girl’s hand, but her grip was firm. Abby set the picture frame on the bed. Drops of red ink began to appear all over the comforters. It took Kayla only a moment to realize that it wasn’t ink-it was blood.

Abby began ghostlike movements towards the bed. Kayla ran and tried to pull her best friend back, but it was worthless. Abby made her way towards the bed, and soon she had flung herself onto it. Drops of blood began to appear on her body, and after Kayla blinked, she was gone.

Kayla let out a scream that could be heard a mile away, but no one heard it. Anyone outside in the dark would only hear the sounds of crickets chirping, and a certain black cat that skulked around the empty lot. But of course, that cat would only be seen in the dark.
