Storm Chasers

Storm Chasers

A Poem by Samuel Ferris

The hot up-flow rising against
the cool column of air
starts to spin;
there are those who
would chase you
passed death and on
into the funneling eye,
and when you close
swirling your lids shut
to the heavens,
they will fall back
on themselves
like air clapping back
before the sound
of thunder.
