II. The Struck Chord

II. The Struck Chord

A Poem by Samuel Ferris

The Struck chord
is vibrating in every branch,
every flapping wing,
every root of the tallest trees,
the orange-yellow sun on its rounds,
the curiosity of a small-town
 girl in her summer dress chasing
dragonflies and the ghosts of
dandelions floating in the air;
All in white-hot-harmony,
containing every beautiful
color-sound, and movement
of a thunderous chord struck
and left to the wind.
