Lost In Time

Lost In Time

A Poem by Bruce Bray
"

When a parent loses a child

"
I remember when you were playing, you were barefoot in the sand
Building your white castles, reaching out to hold my hand
Running to the ocean waves, serenaded by the wind
Blowing kisses just like bubbles, a lifetime lay ahead
But you fade away, like a distant dream
Embrace the pain, it makes no sense to breathe
The empty words, please just let it be
I had never had the chance to say goodbye
Lost in time
The hands turned slow and steady, couldnt wait to start your life
The moments sped away from me, as you sailed into the night
Sound of your footsteps leaving, never thought that you'd be gone
Ringing in the hall at night, broken pictures on the wall
Now you've come and gone, like the falling rain
Embrace the pain, it makes no sense to breathe
The empty words, please just let it be
I had never had the chance to say goodbye
Lost in time
The pity upon the table, to bring a smile upon my face
I'm constantly reminded, that you're in a better place
The words are cold and distant, and they're tearing my apart
You are gone before your days, and I'm left with a shattered heart
The clock ticks away, and reminds me still
Embrace the pain, it makes no sense to breathe
The empty words, please just let it be
I had never had the chance to say goodbye
Lost in time
