Make Believe

Make Believe

A Poem by Lovingleigh

You wouldn't remember this girl that I've come to be.
No, you wouldn't even recognize me.
The crazy part
is that you broke my heart,
but you're still the only one I want lying next to me.

I left a note on your windowsill,
and ever since then, time has stood still.
I wonder if you read it,
and sometimes I regret it.
We were always just make believe, but it always seemed so real.

After every word written, a tear fell to the floor.
I told you I wasn't in love with you anymore.
But it was all just a lie
and I ran home and cried.
I asked for your friendship, but I knew I'd always want more.

I know you tell me all the time, but you were never in love with me.
But you just keep talking, and I continue to bleed.
Your hand holds the knife
thats ending my life
Love is a game, with no referee.
