Epic-logue

Epic-logue

A Poem by Lovingleigh
"

Sort of a cross between a story and a poem. Upbeat, yet down-trodden at the same time.

"

Everything has changed, it never stays the same for long

But I'll never get better at writing you songs.

So I'll apologize for this horror story in advance

it's the tale of a girl who never stood a chance.

If you're willing to listen, let me tell you what I've learned:

don't stick your hand in fire unless you want to get burned.

Seems simple enough, but I still got it wrong

Don't let her fool you, she won't stay for long.

Don't fool yourself either, you don't know what you've got

such a sad story, such a meaningless plot.

And if you turn the page, you can never go back

a heart once red will soon turn black.

Red with rage, black as a stone

it will stop beating when you realize she's gone.

That brings us to the next chapter, don't turn away now

they want you to tolerate the sadness, but won't show you how

And they'll call you crazy, and you'll believe they're sane

and the pills you keep popping never ease the pain

But don't count on them cause they won't stick around

and you'll never learn to fly with your feet on the ground

You'll take things too seriously, even at your age

And we haven't even finished the page

Relationships are like sentences, with a beginning and end

some sort of action, and a subject better off as your friend

Get used to being alone, then it's easier to take these things in stride

Don't ask for the truth, cause after you hear it you'll beg for a lie

Do what makes you happy, no matter what that may be

Because the increasing life expectancy is no guarantee

We're nearing the end of this story, but it isn't over yet

Remember that they never change, what you see is what you get

Love with all your heart, no matter how many times it's been broken

But don't believe her just because " I love you " was spoken

Stay true to yourself in a world full of lies

and believe in the fact that love never dies

I'll end this story with one last line

Don't live out this story, unless you want to live one like mine.

Live in the Past, the Present, and the Future.

The Past is there so we'll never forget what we need to remember

The Present allows us to learn and make mistakes, so we'll have a better Future.

And the Future is for dreaming, so don't forget to close your eyes.

With Love,

(my former self)
