Hair Ties

Hair Ties

A Poem by Lovingleigh

If I sit down and think about it long enough,

I'll surely start to cry

The love we had has faded away,

our dreams have withered and died

But yesterday still clings to me,

and the memories have managed to survive

But breathing doesn't come as easily,

weighed down by faulty, foolish pride.

If I stood up and walked your way,

my knees would surely become weak

I used to know all the right words to say,

but now my mouth's too dry to speak

You never wanted to make your home here,

and I know that you'll find whatever you seek

I heard you were having the time of your life,

but for me it's just another week.

If I could manage to forget you somehow,

I'd surely get some sleep tonight

But even my dreams have come to haunt me,

I still see you with my eyes shut tight

And suddenly giving up doesn't seem so bad,

I've lost the will to fight

And for a moment I realize that I'm no longer alone,

my friend Misery will keep me company tonight.

Awww I like this. The whole thing makes me feel sad for the speaker, but especially the last line where misery is the only thing she has left. But still a nice read.
