I buried my heart today.

I buried my heart today.

A Poem by Aoife

I buried my heart today.

Not in dirt, or sand.

I put it in no man's hand,

but in a steel cage.

Now it might stay here,

and stop flying away.

I might remain here another day,

for without my heart I dare not leave.

It  always escapes, flying like a balloon,

and follow it I miust, My heart I do need.

I try to keep it, it pays no heed,

for it is full of my dreams.

I buried my dreams today.

Maybe tomorrow I'll set it free.
