Tether

Tether

A Poem by the_stoic
"

random thoughts ...

The crossroad where i was once stranded
Wondering which way to go from there
I took the road less traversed without care.

A few steps ahead i felt a bit distraught
Guess for the feelings that i had usually sought.

My steps took me to the edge of a ravine
To amend for my heinous crime.

Do I deserve to live on or just die
Is the question that always makes me cry...

This is a very sad piece at the end. It a sad beauty about it and I feel for the person asking this question. We always have choices in this life and it isn't about if you think you are worthy of continuing on I believe it is one of a higher power to me it is God. This is done uniquely and is very thought provoking. Powerfully sad write.

This is a very emotional piece...the last stanza was my favorite because I agree with those words. I always cry when I ask myself if I deserve to live or die...and which way I would rather go...but my decision normally leads me to say...live because there are so many people out there that love me...and this was a good choice poem... really liked this a lot...thanks for sharing.

There is an overwhelming pain that crawls through your words.. questions unanswered.. all about life and your value in its place.. Profound and gripping.

I like your poetry usually. This one... not as much as the others. You are much better than this. Just being honest.

all choices have consequences...some can't be undone...
we can linger there, like hovering over the site of an accident...grieving...
but you can't stay there forever...it becomes pitiful...
you made a mistake...man up..accept it...learn the lesson...live your life...
the first few steps are hard...seemingly impossible...but you get up momentum...
it won't be long before you get a cool breeze on your face...
the trouble with standing at the edge of the ravine is...
the next step is a b***h...
onward and upward, young man...your life is an adventure ahead of you...just waiting to happen...you'll never see it sitting on your keister...
I liked the way you nicely grabbed the angst and indecision and regret...
Forgive yourself and move along...

whispers like the lament of the guilty~ haunting susurration echoes through the poem ~ the choice to relate the content in a soft and understated manner enhances the emotional quality of the piece perfeclty~

is a great cliche. You could have written something else. But then, all other lines were nice :) Keep writing.
